The BMW XM is BMW M's first flagship SUV with a plug-in hybrid launched on 10th December 2022. It is the first BMW M car that has an electrified hybrid powertrain. It is truly one of the most powerful SUVs offered by BMW, and it has an extensive seven-seater capacity. The BMW XM wraps up modern and bold exteriors and features-rich interiors in its athletic body and exudes peak opulence from every inch. 

The XM's design is mostly based on that of the concept car with the same name from 2021. The Iconic Glow highlights the front illuminated kidney grille with gold-finished or black high-gloss trim and the super sleek adaptive LED headlights. At the side, the Comfort Access and the Night Gold Accents are complemented by the 22-inch or optional 23-inch M Star-Spoke Style 923 M Bicolour Night Gold Accent Wheels. The rear window has the etched BMW logo, and at the bottom are the Hexagonal M Twin Tailpipes. 

The interiors align with the exterior design language. The M Multifunctional seats guarantee premium comfort, and the lunge-style seating at the back elevates travel convenience. A 14.9-inch curved touchscreen infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display, ambient lighting, four-zone temperature control, a heads-up display, and the 1,475-Watt Diamond surround sound system from Bowers & Wilkins are all included within the XM. A 3D Sculptural Headliner enhances the roof.

The electrified drivetrain of the BMW XM generates enormous power, making for an exciting performance. A new V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and an electric motor built into the 8-speed M Steptronic gearbox make up the M Hybrid system. Exterior Design

The louvred shape and three diagonal light strips on the flanks are reminiscent of the design of the BMW M emblem. The trims for the hexagon-shaped tailpipes are piled vertically. The BMW roundel is laser etched on the back. 

It comes with 22-inch M light alloy wheels and an option of 23-inch M light alloy wheels with Night Gold highlights. Either option complements the spectacular design of the BMW XM perfectly and enhances its road presence. 

Interior and Features

Empowered by the performance-focused M cockpit design, the interior boasts a progressive atmosphere paired with unique BMW X amenities. Outstanding comfort is provided by the driver's and passenger's multifunction seats in Merino leather. A luxurious design, premium materials, and an ample sense of space combine to create an exclusive M Lounge in the back of the BMW XM. The front seats have massage functions, an illuminated BMW logo on the headrest and active seat ventilation. 

The rear seats have an inviting lounge-like aspect that makes them seem cosy and comfortable for passengers. It is achieved through deep seat recesses and a colour and material scheme that extends into the door trim panels. Dark windows, comfort cushions made of Alcantara, and the sculptural, indirectly lit headliner all work together to give a fresh sense of space.

The BMW XM's visually arresting lit headliner is a three-dimensional prism structure made of Alcantara surface, and the subtle lighting throughout the cabin lends it an incredibly opulent and forward-thinking feel. The interior surface in Coffee Brown Vintage leather, which covers the upper portions of the instrument panel and door trim panels in soft Nappa leather, is a specific standout.

With 20 speakers and a 1,475-watt amplifier, the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System provides each seat with an engrossingly clean and multi-layered 3D sound experience. The ambient lighting with six options elevates the ambience. The four-zone automated temperature control system offers first-rate comfort. A three-dimensional Sculptural Headliner graces the roof area. 

The 14.9-inch freestanding BMW Widescreen Curved Display with Navigation, a 12.3-inch digital information display behind the steering wheel, a BMW Head-up Display, and real-time traffic information and augmented view are all part of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional. There is a wireless charging tray and a BMW Head-Up display. 

With the most recent version of BMW iDrive running OS 8, passengers can communicate with the car using any method they choose: touch, gesture, or voice. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant completes the set. In addition to monitoring vehicle status, the My BMW App has "Learning Navigation", which provides traffic updates and destination recommendations based on user driving patterns. Engine, Battery and Transmission

BMW XM Engine and Battery Capacity

The M Hybrid system consists of an electric motor and a new V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. The total maximum power of the plug-in hybrid system is 644 bhp @ 5400-7200 rpm, while the maximum torque is 800 Nm @1600-5000 rpm. 

The 4395cc petrol combustion engine can produce up to 482.3bhp and a maximum torque of 650Nm @ 1600–5000 rpm. The 25.7 kW Lithium-ion battery of the electric drive system produces a maximum output of 194.3 bhp and a maximum torque of 280 Nm @ 100–5500 rpm.  

The SUV takes 4.3 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. The maximum speed is electronically restricted to 250 km/h. The petrol engine with the M Driver's Package offers a top speed of 270 km/h.

The BMW XM comes with a 4th generation 8-speed M Steptronic transmission.

Drivers can shift between the electric and hybrid driving modes with the press of a button. The M Hybrid button located on the central console allows drivers to switch between the HYBRID, ELECTRIC, and eCONTROL driving modes.
