The S-Class offers a choice of powerful gas and diesel engines, along with hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. Accelerating and slowing down while anticipating ongoing traffic can help you reduce fuel consumption. Using the cruise control mode can also help you stabilise the speeds of your GLS.

• Air Conditioning Use: The A/C system places an extra load on the engine to run the compressor. Try to limit its use in mild weather conditions. To conserve fuel, consider opening the windows and the sunroof instead.

• Maintenance & Tuning: A poorly maintained engine, dirty air filter, old spark plugs, and improper wheel alignment can degrade fuel performance and burn excess fuel. Consider following the maintenance schedule.
