Tata Nexon is a compact SUV that comes with an attractive coupe-inspired design, premium features and good build quality. The Indian automaker launched the Tata Nexon facelift on September 14,  2023. The Nexon facelift brings drastic changes to the exterior, interior and feature list. The exterior design features Tata’s new design language, which looks futuristic and makes the Nexon stand out from the crowd of SUVs.

The Tata Nexon is available in petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant gets the 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron engine, while the diesel variant comes with the 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq engine. Both engines come with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The Nexon facelift also gets a 7-speed DCA and 5-speed manual gearbox with the petrol engine.

Exterior Design

The Tata Nexon facelift features a completely revamped exterior design. In fact, it looks like a completely new generation of the SUV, although it is based on the same platform. The front fascia of the SUV features sleek LED DRLs, which double up as cool-looking swiping turn indicators. The LED projector headlamps and fog lamps are mounted on the beefy bumper. The front profile of the Nexon facelift looks radically different from the outgoing model.

The side profile of the Nexon facelift remains the same, with flared wheel arches and body cladding. However, it gets new alloy wheels. The top-spec models feature 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, which increase the premium quotient of the SUV.

The rear profile of the Nexon facelift will make you go wow as it gets some cool elements compared to the outgoing model. It features a new LED tail light design with a connecting light bar running across the tailgate. It also gets a chunky spoiler which hides the rear wiper. The rear bumper has black cladding elements and a faux skid plate.

Interior and Features

The Nexon facelift’s interior has also received a major overhaul. The practicality, quality and tech have gone a notch up. It features a clean-looking dashboard with horizontal lines, slim AC vents and a floating touchscreen infotainment system. The major highlight of the cabin is the new flat-bottom two-spoke steering wheel with a backlit Tata logo. 

The Nexon comes equipped with comfortable seats, and the top-spec models also get ventilated front seats. The seats provide adequate support, and the rear and front passengers get enough headroom and legroom. Overall, the cabin is a happy place to be in when you are out on the road, and you will be treated with comfort, refinement and sheer driving pleasure.

The feature list of the Tata Nexon is an extensive one. It includes ventilated front seats, cruise control, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an electric sunroof, a cooled glovebox, connected car tech, etc. All-in-all, the Nexon is a well-rounded package that comes with all the features you expect from a car at this price point. Note that some of these features may be limited to the top-spec models.

Overall, the Nexon facelift’s interior feels polished and upmarket and feels way more premium than the price it demands. It also has a host of features that make the cabin even better.

Engine Performance

The Tata Nexon is available with a petrol and diesel engine. The petrol engine in question is the 1.2-litre turbocharged (Revotron) engine that produces 118.2 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre turbocharged (Revotorq) diesel engine is good for 113.3 Bhp and 260 Nm of torque. Both engines come with a 6-speed manual or an AMT transmission.

With the Nexon facelift, Tata Motors has introduced the 7-speed DCA and a 5-speed manual transmission for the petrol engine.

The Nexon comes with three driving modes: Sport, City and Eco. Sport mode is the best bet if you wish to extract the maximum performance out of the car. The Nexon is a good highway car as it can easily reach triple-digit speeds, and overtaking should not be a problem.

The petrol manual model delivers a fuel economy of 17.44 km/l, whereas the AMT version delivers 17.18 km/l. The petrol-DCT model returns a fuel economy of 17.01 km/l. The diesel manual avatar of the Nexon provides a mileage of 23.23 km/l, and the AMT version delivers an impressive 24.08 km/l. Please note that these figures are as per ARAI. 

Safety

The Nexon is one of the safest SUVs in the Indian market. The strong build quality and the long list of safety equipment have earned it a 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP crash tests. It gets all the safety equipment to keep you safe when out on the road.

The standard safety features of the Tata Nexon include six front airbags, an Electronic Stability Programme, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, reverse parking sensors, a hill-hold assist, etc.
