About Jeep

The World War II "Jeep" that entered production in 1941 specifically connected the name to this light military 4x4, making them perhaps the oldest four-wheel drive mass-production vehicles today known as SUVs. Several corporations have controlled the Jeep brand over the years, including Willys-Overland Motors, Kaiser Jeep, and American Motors Corporation (AMC). Chrysler purchased the Jeep brand and other assets from AMC in 1987. Jeep is now a subsidiary of the international firm Stellantis.

The SUV manufacturer joined the Indian market in 2016 by releasing the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler, which were imported via the CBU route. Jeep released the Wrangler Unlimited, Grand Cherokee SRT, and Grand Cherokee in India in 2016 as part of the FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) group. All three models were delivered as CBUs (completely built-up units) at significantly higher prices.

Notable Jeep Car

The Jeep Compass is one of the most notable Jeep cars that started strong, competing against midsize SUVs like the Mahindra XUV500 and the Hyundai Tucson. Jeep India released the Trailhawk, the most off-road-focused variant of the Compass, in mid-2019, featuring a BS6-compliant diesel engine.
