Mercedes-Benz: Key Highlights

There is a lot that the Mercedes-Benz brand brings to the table in terms of offering some of the finest cars in India. Be it safety, design, engine, or features, this carmaker has mastered this field in every aspect. That said, let's take a look at some of the key highlights of Mercedes-Benz cars:

Safety

If someone asks you to define the legacy of the Mercedes-Benz, highlighting its commitment to safety would be a great way to start. This iconic brand goes a long way to equip its cars with some of the best safety features. For instance, almost every Mercedes-Benz car model in India now comes with an intelligent drive that leverages a multi-purpose camera with 6D vision technology.

Then, the adaptive braking technology in these cars ensures that you are prepared to stop the car properly in times of need. This leverages a predictive mechanism that brings the brake pads closer when the driver suddenly moves their foot from the accelerator. There are also things like a hill start assist that prevents the car from rolling back on slopes.

Design

One of the most defining characteristics of Mercedes-Benz cars is the design of these cars. Whether you are talking about the SUVs, sedans or coupes this brand offers, design is one of its best qualities. All the Mercedes-Benz SUVs have a dominating stance that sets these vehicles apart in the crowd.

Then comes the stylish sedans that give you the authentic premium feeling while driving on the road. The coupes and convertibles from the brand are no exception on this front since even these beasts come with unique design specs. What's more important is the practicality of the Mercedes-Benz designs, which offer enhanced aerodynamics for smooth acceleration.

Features

Comfort and convenience have always been a priority for every vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. So it barely comes as a surprise that these vehicles come with some of the best features you can get in the market. For starters, you get advanced 8infotainment systems that use the latest technologies to ensure you get nothing short of the best experience.

Almost every Mercedes-Benz car has automatic climate control features that ensure optimum comfort. You will also get ventilated seats and leather-wrapped steering wheels that add to the premium touch of these vehicles. For better and more comfortable long drives, Mercedes-Benz cars have cruise control features that ensure safer drives.

Powerful Engines

One great thing about driving a Mercedes-Benz car on Indian roads is that you will never have to worry about power and performance. Most of these cars come with massive engines with displacements ranging from 2999cc to 3982 cc.

This makes it easier for these beasts to easily churn maximum power of 300 bhp to 600 bhp. Apart from that, they can also generate an impressive torque of 700 Nm to 850 Nm, depending on the type of engine you choose.

Mercedes-Benz also aces many ranks in terms of the performance of its electric vehicles that come with entirely different engines. For instance, the Mercedes-Benz EQB can deliver a maximum power of 187.74 bhp to 288.32 bhp with a top speed potential of reaching 160 km per hour. What's even more impressive is the range that these EVs offer, which in the case of the EQB is 535 km with a single charge.

About Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz has been in the car manufacturing business for a very long, but it was not till 2014 that you could see the brand's cars on Indian roads. This year marked the start of the brand's presence in India, with the inauguration of 12 certified outlets across the country.

It was only in 2020 that the brand decided to make its AMG vehicles available to the Indian market. This was when the brand launched three different AMG models, and given the response, it quickly launched the Mercedes-Benz Marketplace in 2021.

However, things were about to get even better in 2022, when India became the market outside of Germany to manufacture the flagship luxury EVs locally. This went a long way in establishing the brand's presence in the country for good. This is one of those carmakers that realise and acknowledge the true potential of the Indian market.

Notable Mercedes-Benz Cars

The Mercedes-Benz brand has existed for some time, and its cars have evolved greatly over the years. The first on the list of these notable carts is the Mercedes-Benz W120/W121/W180 Ponton. This unique class of car was launched in the first half of the 1950s, and its legacy lasted till about 1962.

Then came the spotier predecessor of this beast that we today know as the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. This beast was based on a legendary racing car and was launched in 1954, and its legacy lasted until 1957.

Then came the Mercedes-Benz W114, Mercedes-Benz W115 launched in the year 1968. These cars were a huge success, but thanks to the unique needs of the market, production had to halt even in 1973. The Mercedes-Benz W123 was another iconic available until 1986, and this still holds the title of one of the most successful cars from this brand.

Now fast-forward to the 21st century when Mercedes-Benz launched CLS in 2004. This was a big hit for the brand, and vehicles from this class were available till 2023.

Even today. Some of the most successful Mercedes-Benz car models are fully operational in the modern world. These cars have evolved a great deal over these years but the core still remains the same in most sense. Some of the popular models include the GlE-Class, the iconic G-Class, the SL-Class series, the C-Class, and the E-Class, to name a few.

Mercedes-Benz Market Share

The luxury car market in India is booming, and Mercedes-Benz is at the forefront of capitalising on this boom. Recently, reports have arrived suggesting that the carmaker one in every three cars that the brand sells is worth more than Rs.1 Crore. This marks a great shift in the mindset of Indian customers who conventionally have prioritised price over everything else.

Mercedes-Benz has recently registered a growth of about 15% between the period of January 2024 and March 2024. This comes as a shocker as the mainstream Indian car market struggles to clear its stocks with single-digit growth. It further came to light that Mercedes-Benz now holds a market share of 55% in the luxury car segment.

However, you must also see the growing trend of people wanting performant SUVs in the country. This makes it apparent why cars with this body type accounted for 60% of Mercedes-Benz's over the last three years. Despite the downward trend in the conventional car market, it is fair to conclude that Mercedes-Benz has successfully solidified its grip on the Indian luxury car segment.

Upcoming Mercedes-Benz Cars

Mercedes-Benz is growing its footprint in India, and the brand is looking to capitalise on this upward trend by launching more new products. That said, here are some of the most popular cars that the German carmaker will release in the time to come:

  • Mercedes-Benz V-Class 2024
