Petr Jabena, Brand Director, Skoda India said that the company will try to convert 10 per cent of these to actual bookings.
Skoda Auto India has just announced the full price list of the Kylaq subcompact SUV, which ranges from ₹7.89 - 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Since Skoda India showcased the Kylaq on November 6, it has received a lot of interest from potential customers.
In fact, in an exclusive interview with Acko Drive, Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda India, said that the enquiries for the Kylaq have crossed the 1.25 lakh mark. These interested folks have been coined ‘hand-raisers’ by Skoda India, and it believes around 10 per cent of these hand-raisers will ultimately convert into actual bookings. However, Janeba believes that the number will increase once customers are able to see the car physically from January 27 at dealerships.
Before the Kylaq units reach the dealerships, booking the Kylaq will only be possible online. Janeba says, “Until then (January 27), the journey is purely online. If anybody wants to see the car, it’s mainly digital. There’s one exception, which is the Bharat Mobility Global Expo from January 18, 2025.”
In addition to the 1.25 lakh ‘hand raisers’, Skoda India also has a Kylaq club. Janeba expects members of this club to have a higher chance of converting to an actual booking. He said, “It does not cost anything to be a part of it, but the people who are getting inside the club, they get a lot of benefits in terms of more insightful content about Kylaq, a special walkaround and they can even ask questions to our product gurus. And especially for bookings, very important, they have priority bookings which decrease the prepayment amount.” In contrast to the 10 per cent of ‘hand-raisers’ who might end up booking the Kylaq, Janeba believes more than 50 per cent of the Kylaq club members could end up booking the Kylaq.
The early buyers though have an advantage. The first 33,333 customers who book the Kylaq will get special benefits too. These customers will get three years of service and maintenance free of cost. Janeba said, “We got feedback that most of the customers are still worried about the cost of ownership of a Skoda. And this is something that we have prepared already with our India 2.0 range – Kushaq and Slavia.” He also said that the people who haven’t experienced these models do not understand that Skoda has put a lot of effort into localisation. “We have local parts for local prices and we put a lot of effort in our processes in aftersales and we are, with these cars, on par with the competition,” he added.
