The Aprilia RSV4 Factory is the Italian manufacturer’s flagship motorcycle.
Aprilia has officially unveiled the 2024 iteration of its flagship superbike, the RSV4 Factory. The 2024 RSV4 Factory carries a price tag of Rs 31.26 lakh (ex-showroom), firmly placing it within the upper echelon of the category. Here’s whats on offer.
The RSV4 Factory's design embodies the essence of Italian motorcycle design - a perfect blend of aggressive functionality and aesthetic appeal. The aerodynamic winglets seamlessly integrated into the fairing are a testament to Aprilia's dedication to optimizing high-speed stability. However, the singular colour option of Ultra Gold may not resonate with all riders, potentially obscuring some of the intricate design details.
The Aprilia RSV4 Factory has a potent 1,099cc V4 engine, churning out an impressive 214 bhp and 125 Nm. This engine features a 65-degree V-angle and a 4 valve DOHC layout. A high compression ratio of 13.6:1 further contributes to the engine's power output. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a quickshifter and slipper clutch for seamless gear changes. The RSV4 Factory is capable of exceeding speeds of 305 kmph.
To optimize performance across the entire rev range, the engine utilizes variable valve timing achieved through velocity stacks that adjust their height within the airbox. These stacks are at their tallest at lower rpm for optimal low-end torque and shorten as engine speed climbs, allowing for maximum power output at peak rpm. This technological marvel is housed in a lightweight chassis, resulting in a curb weight of just 202 kg, translating to an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 1.059 bhp per kg.
Aprilia has meticulously crafted the RSV4 Factory's chassis with a focus on both lightweight agility and unwavering stability. The frame utilizes a combination of forged and molded aluminum, resulting in a remarkably lightweight yet incredibly rigid platform. This translates to a highly responsive motorcycle that inspires confidence on both straights and challenging corners. Further enhancing rider control is the advanced suspension system. Featuring electronically managed Öhlins NIX forks at the front and a fully adjustable Öhlins shock absorber at the rear, the suspension allows for precise tuning to suit individual riding styles and varying track conditions.
For riders seeking to push the boundaries of performance on the track, the 2024 RSV4 Factory boasts the latest iteration of Aprilia's APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) suite. This comprehensive electronics package is a testament to Aprilia's commitment to rider safety and performance optimization. The APRC suite encompasses a suite of features including adjustable traction control, wheelie control, cornering ABS, and multiple engine maps. This allows riders to tailor the motorcycle's performance characteristics to their specific needs and riding style, maximizing control and confidence while minimizing the risk of errors on the racetrack.
Compared to its competitors, the Aprilia RSV4 Factory lands in the middle of the price range. Starting at Rs 31.26 lakh, it sits below the Ducati Panigale V4 (₹ 27.72 lakh) and the significantly more expensive BMW M 1000 RR (₹ 48.98 lakh). The RSV4 Factory aims to justify its price tag with its class-leading power, top-of-the-line suspension, and advanced electronics package.
