How does the new 2024 Chetak Premium compare against Ather’s 450S?
The newly updated Bajaj Chetak Premium variant has received technological and feature updates. This has made the electric scooter more viable and at the same time more competitive in its segment. But from a VFM point of view, is it better than the Ather 450S, one of its direct rivals? Here are some of the key differences between the scooters in terms of the features available with them.
For 2024, the Bajaj Chetak premium gains a new 5-inch monochrome TFT instrument cluster. It gets Bluetooth connectivity, however, its functionality concerning app connectivity is limited. To get the full spectrum of the new instrument cluster, you will have to avail of the TECPAC package that will not just update the cluster into a color unit, it will give you turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, call alerts (accept/reject), and much more.
Other standard features available with the 2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium include just one ride mode (ECO), reverse mode, and a key fob.
The Ather 450 S sounds quite feature-rich in comparison. It does not just get a bigger 7-inch TFT non-touch instrument cluster with Ather’s Deepview display, but it also gets turn-by-turn navigation as a standard feature. And unlike the Chetak Premium, which gets only one ride mode, the Ather 450 S is available with three ride modes - Eco, Sport, and Ride.
Just like the Chetak’s TecPac, features like hill-hold assist, reverse park assist, coasting regen, auto indicator cut-off and much more are available onthe 450S with Ather’s Pro package which costs an additional Rs 15,000.
Without the TecPac package, the standard 2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium is priced at ₹ 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), and with the package it will cost you around ₹ 1.45 lakh.
As for the Ather 450S, the company recently revised its price tag and the entry-level ‘450’ electric scooter is now priced from ₹97,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi) onwards. This not just makes the Ather a better value-for-money proposition, but also much more affordable than the Chetak.
