The Swedish urban scrambler will be based on the updated KTM 390 Duke platform
Bajaj is hoping to revive the fortunes of Husqvarna as the stylish niche Swedish company has launched the new updated iteration of the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 250. The former costs ₹2.92 lakh, while the 250cc roadster will set you back by ₹2.19 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). Since the Husky-duo are based on the same platform that also underpins their respective new-gen KTM Duke counterparts, both gain a similar set of updates.
Starting with the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, it is now powered by the new 398.63cc, which produces 45bhp at 9000rpm and 39Nm at 7000rpm. Just like the current-gen Duke 390, the Svartpilen 401 is now also underpinned by the new steel-trellis frame and subframe, fully adjustable 43mm WP Apex USD fork and offset monoshock. On the other hand, the Vitpilen 250 gets the new 31bhp/25Nm, 249.07cc engine nestled around the familiar trellis frame, with 43mm WP Apex USD fork and preload adjustable WP Apex monoshock. The Svartpilen rolls on 17-inch spoke rims shodded with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, while Vitpilen continues to be available with alloy wheels with MRF tyres instead.
Unlike the earlier models, Husqvarna realised that the compact and petite structure has not been sought after much in the Indian context. Hence, dimensions of both the bikes have also grown significantly. For starters, ground clearance in both the bikes has increased from 152mm to 177mm, and the seat is now more accessible at 820mm, compared to 842mm before. The pillon seat height has reduced to 820mm, compared to 842mm before, in both the bikes. Moreover, the seat design has also been alterned and it now looks bigger and more accommodating than before, and the fuel tank can now hold 13.5-litre of fuel.
The Huskies now also look more evolved and cleaner than before without departing much from their original neo retro intentions. Retaining that edgy quotient from before, the Svartpilen now looks more of an urban scrambler, while the Vitpilen’s cafe racer appeal has been done away with to look more on the lines of a roadster. The new premium design is aptly complimented by overcoated decals and that further enhances their appeal.
In addition to that, both the Huskies now feature a new 5-inch display instead of the round cluster from before. However, in the Svartpilen the TFT cluster gets Bluetooth connectivity as standard, and the Vitpilen gets a LCD unit without any connectivity options at all. However, rider aids are the same in both which include traction control, Easy Shift (quickshifter), supermoto ABS and ride-by-wire throttle. And yet there are no ride modes or launch control available with the Svartpilen 401, as is the case with its corresponding KTM Duke.
Deliveries of both 2024 Svartpilen 401 and 2024 Vitpilen will start from January-end onwards across all 400+ KTM showrooms in India. Husqvarna is also offering both the bikes with a 2+3 year warranty with a service interval of 7,500 km. We will be riding the Svartpilen 401 soonm, so stay tuned for a detailed review about how the bikes now perform.
