From a bigger engine to a new frame, the new Jawa 350 debuts some significant changes.
Starting the new year with a big bang , Classic Legends has revived its famed Jawa motorcycle with significant updates and is now christened the Jawa 350 and it has been launched in India priced at ₹ 2.14 Lakh.
The new updates have now also brought the roadster on par with its main competitor, the Royal Enfield Classic 350, and the price tag is pretty competitive as well.
Powering the new Jawa 350 is the same 334 cc, single-cylinder engine that is also available with the brand’s bobber Jawa 42 and Perak. However, the mill has been revised for strong low and mid-range performance. As for its output it produces 22.6 bhp at 7, 000 rpm and 28.1 Nm at 5,000 rpm and the compression ratio has been tweaked to 9.5:1 compared to 11:1 from before. The latter detail ensures that the engine has been tuned significantly for a more laid-back power delivery compared to before. There’s also a new 6-speed gearbox in the mix, but the twin-exhaust set-up from before continues as it is.
The new 334 cc engine is nestled inside a new double-cradle frame suspended by a new taller 35 mm telescopic fork and the same twin-shock absorber from before with a 5-step adjustable preload function. The new frame increases its ground clearance to 178 mm, and with a bigger engine the kerb weight has also increased from 182 kg to 194 kg, and the seat height has also increased from 765 mm to 790 mm from before.
Moreover, the new Jawa 350 now rides on wider 100/90-18 and 130/80-17 tyres, compared to 90/90-18 and 120/80-17 from before. The wheelbase has also increased from 1,369 mm to 1,449 mm which should help the new Jawa 350 in long-distance touring.
There are no new features at all. The flat-mounted analogue instrument console from before continues as it is, which was crticised for not being clear from a rider's perspective.
The new 2024 Jawa 350 is available with three new colour options: Mystique Orange, Black and Orange. So while visually not much has changed on the new Jawa 350, these new interesting colour options do make it distinctive in comparison to its predecessor.
