2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA And AMG GLE 53 Coupe India Launch Date Revealed

2023 was the year of SUVs for Mercedes-Benz India comprising 55 per cent of the marque’s sales. Riding high on this momentum, the Indian arm of the German carmaker has now decided to further strengthen its SUV portfolio and has confirmed the launch of the new GLA and AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Couple SUVs on January 31. Both these new models will also be the first launch of 2024 from the German luxury brand. 

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA: Key Updates

Most of the changes of the facelift Mercedes-Benz GLA will be noticeable in the front fascia. These updates will be visible in the form of a new grille design adorned with redesigned LED headlights, and bumper design. The wheel arches will now boast the same colour as the body paint, unlike the black cladding seen in the outgoing model. 

The cabin won’t see any crucial changes as such. However, an updated MBUX infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a new ambient lighting system will be the major highlights. 

Under the hood of the GLA, it will be the same 1.3-litre turbo-petrol that produces 163bhp, and 190bhp, 2.0-litre diesel engine options. Mercedes-Benz is yet to confirm if the AMG GLA will arrive in India or not, however, it is likely to happen later this year. 

2024 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe: Key Highlights

The AMG GLE 53, on the other hand, will look identical to its GLE SUV brethren from the front. However, the side profile will give away the former’s coupe design with the swooping roofline design. Given that the AMG GLE gets the ‘53’ moniker, it will be powered by the marque’s 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 435 bhp. This is a hybrid mill so the engine will come paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist that will give an additional 22bhp bump. 

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA & Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe: Ex-showroom Price

The Mercedes-Benz GLA will be positioned as an entry-level SUV, so we expect it to be priced between ₹43.5-₹45.6 lakh. The AMG GLE 53 Coupe is expected to command a premium price tag of over ₹1 crore.
