Besides being compliant with the latest emission norms, the Honda Unicorn also gains some new features.
Honda’s update spree for the new year continues and this time it’s the brand’s 160 cc commuter bike, the Unicorn. Unlike the SP160 which shares the same rolling chassis and motor, the Unicorn doesn’t get as many new bits. And for that, paying nearly ₹8000 more than before seems like a stretch. Yes, the new asking price has been set at ₹1.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
As for the changes, Honda has tried to enhance the appeal of the Unicorn by introducing a new all-LED headlamp, replacing the bulb unit from before. Along with that, there’s also a new fully digital instrument console. It isn’t the same 4.2-inch colour TFT screen from the SP160 and hence does not support Bluetooth connectivity. However, there is a USB-C type charging port that will help keep your mobile phones charged up at all times.
Mechanically, the Unicorn’s 162.71 cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine might be compliant with the latest OBD2B emission norms. But that hasn’t come with any drop or increase in performance and it continues to produce the same 13 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 14.58 Nm at 5,250 rpm as before.
The body design of the bike has also remained exactly the same, and so have the colours which are the same three options – Pearl Igneous Black, Matte Axis Gray Metallic, and Radiant Red Metallic. Similarly, hardware components have also remained the same.
The Honda Unicorn has always been a nice, smooth-to-ride commuter bike. The latest update might help its case in being a nice modern option in the country.
