The 948 cc four-potter is now Euro 5+ compliant.
Kawasaki’s most popular and enjoyable middleweight naked streetfighter, the Z900, has been updated for 2025. The changes have made the bike more comfortable and tractable. We should expect it to arrive in India soon.
The 2025 Kawasaki Z900 range is signified by a new aesthetic appeal headlined by the new headlight cluster, and tail light design. Brushed metal accents on the side with the ‘Z’ logo will catch your attention instantly.
It still has the same 948 cc inline-4 cylinder engine, which Kawasaki says is 16 percent more fuel efficient than before, courtesy revised camshaft profiles. To comply with the latest Euro 5+ emission norms, peak output figures have dropped slightly to 123 bhp and 97.4 Nm from 125 bhp and 98.6 Nm.
In addition to this drop in performance, a bunch of electronic nannies have now been added to the Z900’s kitty. Starting with the IMU-based electronic riding support technology that gets you cornering ABS, traction control, ride modes and power modes. The bi-directional quickshifter has also been revised, and Kawasaki says that it can now be used from as low as 1,500 rpm.
Globally, the Z900 is available in a standard as well as SE trim. The difference between the two arrives with their underpinnings. Where the standard variant gets Nissin’s, dual-floating, 300 mm discs with dual radial-mounted four-piston calipers at the front, the SE trim gets dual-semi floating 300 mm discs with Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers. The rear sees a 250 mm single disc with single-piston callipers in both. Suspension wise, the SE gets a USD fork and back-link S46 gas-charged shock, both from Ohlins, complete with rebound, damping and spring preload adjustability. The standard trim gets simpler and has a non-adjustable suspension.
Feature-wise, both trims now get a new 5-inch TFT console that supports Kawasaki’s My Rideology App, turn-by-turn navigation and cruise control as standard. The seat has also been revised for better accommodation. Coupled with Kawasaki’s “ERGO FIT” mechanism, all the key panels and lever are further available with an adjustability function to get the bike set as per the rider’s comfort in every aspect. Complimenting these subtle yet crucial changes are the new colour options, namely – Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Carbon Grey, Metallic Carbon Grey/Metallic Phantom Silver/Candy Red and a Metallic Moondust Grey/Metallic Spark Black/ Candy Lime Green available with the SE.
Kawasaki has only sold the standard Z900 in India, and this model currently costs ₹9.38 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Given the slew of updates in terms of new features and riding aids this model benefits – we expect the 2025 model will launch with a hike somewhere between ₹50,000 to ₹70,000. As for its launch, Kawasaki might launch the new 2025 Z900 by early 2025. These updates should still keep its popularity in India incredibly high as it will continue to lock heads with the Triumph Street Triple 765 and the Ducati Monster.
