The fourth-generation Yamaha MT-07 shares many components with the bigger MT-09 and MT-10.
The Yamaha MT-07 has entered its fourth generation with a slew of updates. From a new chassis to better electronics and a completely revised style – all of which have come together to put the middleweight bike on par with its elder siblings, the MT-09, and the MT-10. However mechanically, Yamaha hasn’t tampered with the 690 cc, CP2, parallel-twin engine and it continues to churn out the same 72.4 bhp as before while being compatible with the latest Euro 5 emission norms.
The bike is now built around a completely new, more rigid tubular steel chassis. It continues to weigh the same though at 14.8 kg. Coupled with that, the Yamaha MT-07 now rides on the brand’s cutting-edge, spinforged 17-inch rims, which helps save 500 g of unsprung mass, and the new bodywork further saves 600 g on the kerb weight. All of which allows the 2025 Yamaha MT-07 to tip the scale at 183 kg (dry), which is almost 1 kg lighter than the previous generation.
Additionally, Yamaha has also equipped the MT-07 for the first time 41 mm upside-down fork which is 0.5 kg lighter than the outgoing telescopic units. Keeping in tune with the revised body style, Yamaha has also restyled the 14-litre fuel tank, and just like its elder siblings, the MT-07 now also gets the “Acoustic Amplifying technology” – which sees four openings on the fuel tank to allow the noise of the engine engulf the rider, leading to quite the aural experience.
With chassis changes, the ergonomics of the MT-07 have also been altered for a more engaging stance. For starters, the seat height has dropped to 805 mm, and the handlebar is now wider and closer to the rider. The footpegs have also been dropped by 10 mm allowing for more legroom space. Lastly, a pair of four-piston radial brake calipers debuts with the MT-07 for the first time – rounds up the key hardware upgrades of the middleweight naked sport bike.
On the features front, the 2025 Yamaha MT-07 has now finally gained ride-by-wire throttle control which allows for different ride modes. Additionally, Yamaha’s Y-AMT transmission gearbox has also made its way to the bike, with which the 2025 MT-07 will be available with cruise control as standard. The controls for all the new features can now be accessed from a new 5-inch TFT display that supports smartphone connectivity and navigation.
The updated 2025 Yamaha MT-07 has just been unveiled, and the new model will hit global markets next year. It will be available with a choice of three colours – Ice Storm, Icon Blue and Tech Black. Deliveries for the same will also commence next year.
