Honda has revealed the 2026 Passport SUV, branding it as the "most off-road capable" iteration of the model to date. Packed with enhancements to both its design and performance, the fourth-generation Passport aims to solidify its place in the mid-size SUV market as a rugged, versatile option for adventure-seekers.
Under the hood, the Passport houses a 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 281 bhp —5 bhp more than the outgoing model—while maintaining a torque rating of 355 Nm. The new 10-speed automatic transmission, specifically tuned for this SUV, replaces the previous 9-speed gearbox. Additionally, the vehicle comes equipped with Honda's i-VTM4 all-wheel-drive system, which features torque vectoring for improved handling and traction.
Performance upgrades include forged steel suspension arms, cast-iron knuckles, and retuned MacPherson struts in the front. An all-new rear multilink suspension and larger 13.8-inch front brakes enhance stability and stopping power. The 2026 Passport can tow up to 2268 kg and comes with a full-size spare tyre.
Honda emphasises off-road readiness with a longer wheelbase, wider track, increased ground clearance, and a shorter front overhang for improved approach angles. The TrailSport trims, in particular, offer additional rugged features such as steel skid plates and co-developed General Grabber all-terrain tyres.
The redesigned Passport offers a roomier cabin, with the extended wheelbase adding 33 mm of rear legroom. Cargo capacity has also increased, providing up to 2364-litre behind the first row and 1246-litre behind the second row. The reintroduction of a stowable picnic table, doubling as a cargo shelf, adds functionality.
Inside, a 10.2-inch digital driver display and a 12.4-inch infotainment screen (54 per cent larger than before) dominate the dashboard. Honda’s infotainment system supports Google Built-In, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. All trims are equipped with practical features, such as 10 cupholders, six of which can hold 1-litre water bottles.
Honda has not disclosed the exact starting price of the 2026 Passport but indicated that it will begin in the mid-$40,000 (approx. ₹33.75 lakh) range. For comparison, the outgoing 2025 Passport starts at $43,795 (approx. ₹36.96 lakh), including destination fees.
