BMW has revealed the new M4 CS, basically a two-door version of the BMW M3 CS. Powering the M4 CS is the same 3.0-litre, inline-six, twin-turbocharged petrol engine as the M4 Competition but it develops more power. It also gets a radical styling compared to the M4 Competition.
As mentioned above, you get the same engine but it now produces 543 bhp, up from 523 bhp in the M4 Competition. However, both produce an identical 650 Nm of torque and power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. BMW claims the M4 CS can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 3.4 seconds, a tenth of a second quicker than the M4 Competition. The top speed of the M4 CS is limited to 302 kmph.
Compared to the M4 Competition, the M4 CS is 20 kg lighter due to the extensive use of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic. It gets a carbon fibre roof, bonnet, front splitter, front air intakes, ORVMs, rear diffuser and the spoiler. Carbon fibre has also been used inside the cabin as the M4 CS gets carbon fibre bucket seats, the centre console, paddle shifters and interior trim elements. Even the exhaust system of the M4 CS is four kg lighter than the standard BMW M4 Competition. Other design changes in the M4 CS include redesigned headlamps and taillamps.

The M4 CS also comes with chassis and suspension tuning specific to it. This has helped BMW achieve a time of 7 min 21.989 seconds at the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany. Compared to the more hardcore BMW M4 CSL, the M4 CS is 3.9 seconds slower around the circuit.
BMW India recently launched the updated M4 Competition in India at ₹1.53 crore (ex-showroom, India) and it remains to be seen if the M4 CS makes it to the Indian market.
