Fremont, California-based Delta Electronics has introduced a new 50kW DC Wallbox charger at ACT Expo 2025, offering a space-efficient solution for electric vehicle charging in confined areas, a new report says.
The novel charger features a remarkably thin profile of just 10 inches and weighs only 225 pounds, making it suitable for wall mounting or pedestal installation. This design specifically targets locations where space is at a premium, such as urban parking facilities, corporate campuses, and fleet operation centers. Delta plans to produce these chargers at their Plano, Texas manufacturing facility, supporting North American EV infrastructure expansion with domestic production, the report added.
The 50kW charging capacity represents the lower range of Level 3 fast charging, providing an ideal solution for moderate-duration activities rather than ultra-rapid charging scenarios.
"Our focus is on seamlessly integrating high efficiency charging into the diverse scenarios of everyday life, including commercial operations, not just maximising power output," Eng Taing, Delta's senior VP and GM of energy & telecom Infrastructure was quoted as saying.
Addressing Real-World Installation Challenges
Operating at 97 per cent efficiency, the Wallbox can simultaneously charge two electric vehicles using either CCS1 or NACS connectors. The extended 23-foot cable enhances flexibility during installation, accommodating various parking configurations without complication.
Delta's comprehensive approach encompasses both hardware manufacturing and software integration. The charger connects to Delta's Internet of Things platform, enabling remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance capabilities, and over-the-air updates. This integrated ecosystem is designed to minimise operational disruptions for both fleet managers and individual EV users.
