A new version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan has been spotted ahead of its launch.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan has been a popular adventure motorcycle since its launch in 2016, offering riders a capable off-road machine at an affordable price point. Now, a new version of the Himalayan has been spotted ahead of its launch, and it's rumoured to be equipped with a larger 450 cc engine. The spy shots reveal a few changes to the design of the motorcycle, including a redesigned fuel tank and a new headlight assembly. The new Himalayan also appears to have a taller windscreen, which should provide better wind protection for riders on long journeys.
While the design changes are welcome, the real excitement surrounds the rumoured larger engine. The current Himalayan is powered by a 411 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 24.3 bhp and 23 Nm of torque. If the rumoured are true, the new Himalayan will have a 450 cc engine that could produce more power and torque, making it even more capable off-road.
The larger engine could also improve the bike's highway performance, making it more comfortable for riders on longer journeys. The current Himalayan struggles to maintain high speeds on the highway, which limits its usefulness as a touring motorcycle. With a larger engine, the new Himalayan could have better highway manners, while still being a competent off-road machine.
Royal Enfield has not released any official details about the new Himalayan, so we don't know when it will be launched or how much it will cost. However, the spy shots suggest that the launch is imminent, and we expect the price to be slightly higher than the current model.
Overall, the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 looks like a promising upgrade to an already excellent adventure motorcycle. The larger engine should improve its off-road capabilities, while the design changes should make it more comfortable and practical for long journeys.
