The ₹750-crore facility will begin operations in Q4 2026.

Altmin Pvt Ltd, India's first cathode active materials manufacturer, will commence operations at its 8 GWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) plant in Divitpally, Telangana, in Q4 2026. The ₹750-crore facility represents India's inaugural LFP cathode gigafactory. The 20-acre plant will produce 20,000 metric tonnes of LFP materials annually, meeting 10 per cent of India's total LFP demand. Altmin developed its patented LFP technology in collaboration with ARCI and will supply major cell manufacturers across the country.

The facility will target multiple applications, including electric vehicles, commercial energy storage systems, and renewable energy projects. “We are poised to be the cornerstone of India’s clean energy revolution, supporting the country’s push towards self-reliance in battery materials manufacturing. We broke ground this March, and now we are already in advanced talks for putting together the infrastructure and working with our EPC contractors at a breakneck speed,” said Maurya Sunkavalli, Founder & MD, Altmin. Altmin also plans to expand production capacity to 100,000 metric tonnes per annum by 2030.

This project positions India as a potential global hub for LFP cathode production, reducing dependence on Chinese-dominated lithium-ion battery materials and strengthening the domestic supply chain for India's growing EV and energy storage industries.
