AMD's Chair and CEO Lisa Su emphasised the company's deep commitment to India, highlighting the nation's critical role in the organisation's global technology ecosystem, according to the ET report.
The company is not just investing capital but is also developing two state-of-the-art supercomputers specifically designed for advanced weather forecasting.
"India is critical to everything that we do at AMD. We have over eight thousand people here, which is about 25% of our global workforce. Every product that we build in every market segment - our data centres, PCs, or embedded business, goes through our team here.
"We are building a couple of supercomputers in India that we are proud of. This is a key region for us, both from a business as well as a talent growth standpoint," Lisa Su, chair, and chief executive officer (CEO) of AMD was quoted as saying by ET.
The company's new R&D centre represents more than just a physical infrastructure-- it symbolises AMD's recognition of India's technological talent and potential.
By investing in local talent and developing sophisticated supercomputing infrastructure, the company is signalling its long-term commitment to technological innovation in the region.
The supercomputer projects, in particular, highlight AMD's ambition to push the boundaries of computational capabilities, with a specific focus on critical areas like climate and weather prediction.
