Watch the Premiere Episode of 'Silo' on Twitter, No Subscription Required

Apple has released the first episode of its latest sci-fi series Silo on Twitter ahead of the show's finale on June 30 on Apple TV+. This allows Twitter users to watch the premiere episode of the much-acclaimed dystopian show for free as it nears the end of the first season. Apple's decision comes on the heels of Twitter's recent introduction of longer video uploads for its Twitter Blue subscribers.

Apple's tweet caught CEO Elon Musk's attention as he praised Apple's innovative move and encouraged users to make the most of the opportunity.

"Watch the entire first episode on this platform. Great move by Apple!" he tweeted.

Musk also suggested that Twitter users could watch Silo's first episode on their TVs by using AirPlay or casting the video on their smart TVs.

Despite the new video upload capabilities, Twitter still imposes a 1080p resolution limit for videos, which also applies to Silo. Apple's decision to distribute its original content through Twitter could influence other OTT platforms to follow suit, enabling them to reach a wider audience while leveraging its free accessibility.

Since the announcement of the new video feature, several users have attempted to upload copyrighted movies like Super Mario Bros, The Flash, Shrek and more, resulting in copyright strikes and removal of the videos.

Silo, the sci-fi series made available by Apple TV on Twitter, is based on the famous science fiction novel Wool by Hugh Howey. It is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth where people have to live in an underground bunker spanning 144 levels. The series boasts an impressive cast featuring Rebecca Ferguson (known for her roles in Dune and Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One) and Academy Award-winning actor Tim Robbins (from Mystic River and The Shawshank Redemption). The show has been renewed for second season.
