Check out what has been changed on the Aprilia RS 457 Trophy Cup bike to make it race-worthy.
Aprilia has announced a new racing series specifically for the RS 457, and to fuel the competition, it has unveiled a new Trofeo version of the RS 457. Here is a closer look at what are the changes on the Aprilia RS 457 Trofeo which has been unveiled for the Racing Series.
The key components of the Racing Trophy Kit include a Racing Electronic Control Unit, SC Project Exhaust System, Sprint Racing Air Filter, JetPrime Racing Switches and Buttons and Plastic Bike Fairing Kit with Fiberglass Tank Cover and Tail Section.
First up the SC Project Exhaust System is designed specifically for this bike. It enhances power delivery and delivers a throaty racing sound. This typically translates to a higher power peak and potentially a flatter torque curve for more usable power throughout the rev range. The racing exhaust will also shed some weight compared to the stock unit. Along with this the Sprint Filter which is a high-flow racing air filter ensures optimal airflow to the engine for maximum power output. However, it may require more frequent cleaning which is a con to the potential horsepower gain.
Both these modifications benefit from the Racing ECU. The new airflow changes need new air fuel ratios to make the optimum horsepower while keeping the engine on the engine. One could expect sharper throttle response, more precise power delivery, and potentially adjustable engine braking with the Racing ECU.
A plastic bike fairing kit with a fibreglass tank cover and tail section reduces weight and provides an aerodynamic advantage on the track. These lighter fairings can significantly reduce weight (159 kg is the dry weight of the production bike), improving handling and acceleration. The aerodynamic design helps reduce drag and downforce, allowing the bike to achieve higher speeds.
Lastly, the JetPrime Racing switches and buttons offer intuitive controls for quick adjustments during races. These controls are typically designed to be more durable and easier to use with racing gloves on. These might also include additional features like a launch control button or a pit lane limiter.
Apart from this the engine of the bike is kept in stock in terms of hardware inside it. This Racing series Aprilia RS 457 Trofeo is powered by the same 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, it packs a punch with 48.9 bhp and 48 Nm, ideal for carving up corners and pushing lap times. The bike is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch and we expect a quick-shifter on the racing series bike.

The Aprilia RS 457 Trofeo has an aluminium frame with an engine being the stressed member. There are no suspension changes mentioned on the Aprilia RS 457 Trofeo but it might be set up at the track depending on the rider's preference. The same goes with the tyres which might be racing slicks instead of the street tyres. On the electronics side, the Aprilia RS 457 Trofeo gets ride-by-wire throttle, selectable riding modes, ABS, and adjustable traction control for enhanced rider control and safety.

All these modifications which take the Aprilia RS 457 from a street machine to a competitive track weapon come bundled in a dedicated Racing Trophy Kit. This kit is designed for ease of installation and affordability. Although it does take away the street-legal nature of the bike. Almost all of these changes are reversible and one can always have a stock bike just by removing these modifications.
