Will be priced significantly lower in the Indian market compared to the US
Aprilia has disclosed the prices for the RS 457 in the USA and Canada, where the Prismatic Dark and Opalescent Light colours are priced at $6,799 (Rs. 5.66 lakh) in the USA, and the Racing Stripes version is priced at $6,899 (Rs. 5.74 lakh). The RS 457 is the younger sibling of the RS 660, and features a 457cc parallel-twin engine, producing 47 bhp. The India launch is imminent, and it will compete with the KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 400.
The Aprilia RS 457, manufactured at the Baramati plant in India, will be priced significantly lower in the Indian market compared to the US. Similar to the KTM RC 390, produced by Bajaj in Chakan near Pune, it follows the pattern of being manufactured in India for global export. Considering the manufacturing in India and that it sports a twin-cylinder engine, the pricing for the Aprilia RS 457 in India is expected to be around the Rs 3.5 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
The RS 457 is equipped with a new 457cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine delivering a peak power of 47 bhp through a six-speed transmission with an optional quickshifter. Its suspension system features a 41 mm USD fork with 120 mm of travel at the front and a rear monoshock with 130 mm of travel, both allowing preload adjustments. The braking setup includes a 320 mm front disc with a Bybre 4-piston radial calliper and a 220 mm rear disc with a single-piston floating calliper. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels fitted with TVS Protorq Extreme tyres (110/70 front, 150/60 rear).
The styling of the bike is inspired by the Aprilia RS 660 and it sports a small curved windscreen, LED DRLs, twin headlamps, and a 5-inch TFT colour instrument cluster. With three riding modes, switchable traction control with three customizable levels, and various additional features, the RS 457 comes in three paint schemes: black, white, and silver. Bookings for this bike are expected to open in early 2024 as the bike makes its India debut around the same timeline.
