With the new GST rates coming into effect bikes above 350 cc will be getting more expensive in India. The Finance Minister had announced that GST rates for two-wheelers above 350 cc will rise from the existing 28% (plus an additional 3% cess) to 40% from September 22 onward. However, Piaggio India, the parent company for Aprilia has announced that it will completely absorb the hike in GST rates.
The above means that the Aprilia Tuono 457, which should cost close to ₹4.15 lakh with the revised GST rates, is still on sale at ₹3.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). On the other end of the spectrum, the Aprilia RS457 also sees no price addition and will continue to be sold at ₹4.35 lakh (ex-showroom). In addition to no GST hike, Aprilia is also offering bi-directional quickshifter as complimentary thereby offering buyers another ₹20,500 discount.
While the company hasn’t mentioned till when these GST rate benefits will be offered, we expect them to continue till the festive season, post which the prices might be revised. So if you were planning to buy the Aprilia 457 duo, we will suggest go ahead with the purchase right now and save that extra money and invest it in good riding gear.
