The Aprilia Tuono 457 is expected to be lighter, faster, and more agile than the Aprilia RS 457.
Aprilia's 457 cc, parallel-twin platform has become quite popular since the launch of the supersport bike, the RS 457 – giving bikers a sporty and affordable option to experience Noale’s pure racing pedigree. Building on this newfound strength and making the platform more accessible will be its subsequent streetfighter iteration, the Tuono 457. To be showcased at the 2024 EICMA in Milan on November 5, Aprilia confirmed the same by releasing a teaser video giving us a proper idea of the naked version of the RS 457.
As for the teaser, it reveals significant design updates compared to the retro approach showcased by earlier spy shots. Starting with that aggressive front end with a sharp headlamp design. The front incorporates a central projector surrounded by V-shaped DRLs, departing from the round headlamp seen on test mules. Also unlike its bigger Tuono siblings, the Aprilia Tuono 457 will adopt a more stripped-down approach, foregoing the semi-fairing and short visor characteristic of the lineup.
The Aprilia Tuono 457 will share several components with its fully-faired counterpart, including the digital instrument cluster, tail section, and alloy wheels. It will retain the RS 457's chassis components, including the 41mm USD front fork and rear monoshock, similarly the brakes are also expected to remain the same. The liquid-cooled 457 cc parallel-twin engine will continue to develop the same 47 bhp and 48 Nm, paired with a 6-speed transmission. But given its lighter naked bike design, the Tuono 457 is expected to be a more agile ride with a better power-to-weight ratio.
The upcoming launch follows the successful reception of the RS 457 in the Indian market.. Coupled with the fact that the Tuono 457 will also be manufactured at Piaggio Group's Baramati facility in Maharashtra, India, it would be more affordable than its faired sibling and will retail for less than ₹4 lakh (ex-showroom).
