Ashok Leyland Sees 9% YoY Rise in September CV Sales, Trails Tata and Mahindra

Ashok Leyland 75 Years

Ashok Leyland’s H1 FY26 cumulative domestic sales climbed to 85,559 units, up 2% from 83,873 units in H1 FY25. 

Ashok Leyland’s commercial vehicle (CV) sales rose to 18,813 units in September 2025, up 9% from 17,233 units in September 2024. Domestic sales reached 17,209 units, a 7% increase over 16,041 units a year earlier. 

Month-on-Month Trend
– June 2025: 15,333 units, +3% YoY (14,940 units) 
– July 2025: 15,064 units, +8% YoY (13,928 units) 
– August 2025: 15,239 units, +5% YoY (14,463 units) 
– September 2025: 18,813 units, +9% YoY (17,233 units) 

The step-up in September partly reflects a rebound in export volumes, which together with domestic sales comprises the total CV figure.

Segmental Breakdown (September 2025)
– Domestic M&HCV (trucks & buses): 10,499 units, +3% YoY
– Domestic LCV: 7,005 units, +14% YoY

While Ashok Leyland’s growth is steady, it remains third in market share behind Tata Motors, which sold 35,862 CVs (+19% YoY), and Mahindra, which recorded 26,728 CV sales (+18% YoY).


Ashok Leyland’s H1 FY26 cumulative domestic sales climbed to 85,559 units, up 2% from 83,873 units in H1 FY25. Total exports plus domestic for the same period were 93,354 units, up 4% from 89,517 units.
