Aston Martin has officially launched CarPlay Ultra integration for new vehicle orders across the US and Canada as of today. This advanced automotive interface, representing the next evolution of Apple's CarPlay technology, will also become available to existing compatible Aston Martin owners through an upcoming software update expected to roll out in the coming weeks.
“iPhone users love CarPlay, and it has transformed how people connect with their vehicles. With CarPlay Ultra, together with automakers, we are reimagining the in-car experience, making it even more unified and consistent,” Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, said in a statement.
“This next generation of CarPlay gives drivers a smarter, safer way to use their iPhone in the car, while deeply integrating with the car’s systems and showcasing the unique look and feel of each automaker. We are excited to kick off the rollout of CarPlay Ultra with Aston Martin — and this is just the beginning, with more automakers on the way.”
CarPlay Ultra enhances the traditional CarPlay experience by creating a deeper connection between iPhone and vehicle systems. The technology now extends beyond the central display to populate all driver-facing screens, including the digital instrument cluster where it can display real-time information and vehicle gauges.
Notably, the automotive industry is embracing this technology broadly, with Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis recently joining the growing list of manufacturers working to implement CarPlay Ultra in their vehicle lineups.
For Aston Martin owners, the only requirement is that their vehicle must be equipped with the brand's next-generation infotainment system to support this enhanced functionality.
CarPlay Ultra provides content for all the driver’s screens, including the instrument cluster, with dynamic and beautiful options for the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, and more, bringing a consistent look and feel to the entire driving experience. Drivers can choose to show information from their iPhone, like maps and media, along with information that comes from the car, such as advanced driver assistance systems and tire pressure, right in the instrument cluster.
