Aston Martin has introduced the Vanquish Volante, a convertible version of its most powerful production car to date. Retaining the 824 bhp 6.0-litre V12 engine from the coupe, the Volante adds weight to the convertible mechanism, but claims to remain very much a Vanquish. Aston Martin has confirmed that the Volante will be part of the annual Vanquish production run of 1,000 units, including special edition models.

The car features a bonded aluminium structure to ensure torsional rigidity and maintain driving dynamics. The fabric roof can be operated at speeds up to 50 kmph, taking 16 seconds to lower and 14 seconds to raise. However, the transformation has added 95 kg to the coupe’s weight, bringing the total to 1,869 kg. This results in a slight decrease in acceleration, with the 0-100 kmph time now at 3.4 seconds—two-tenths slower than the coupe. The top speed remains an impressive 344 kmph.

The Volante retains the dramatic styling elements of the coupe, featuring Aston Martin’s signature vaned grille, a redesigned rear with a spiked taillight cluster, and a floating ‘shield’ element. Functional aerodynamic enhancements, including various air intakes and body bulges, contribute to both aesthetics and performance.

The vehicle is equipped with 21-inch forged alloy wheels, with buyers given the choice of Pirelli P Zero PZ4 summer tyres or P Zero Winter 2 tyres. To compensate for the additional weight, Aston Martin has recalibrated the suspension setup, incorporating Bilstein adaptive dampers for an optimal balance between comfort and performance.

Inside, the Volante mirrors the coupe’s cabin design, with minimal alterations aside from a structural cross brace at the rear for added storage. The 10.25-inch digital displays remain, along with a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system. The centre console retains its illuminated start/stop button, alongside controls for chassis settings and exhaust modes. Standard seating includes sports seats, while carbon fibre performance seats are available as an optional upgrade
