Asus ROG Phone 8 First Look Officially Revealed Ahead of Launch in 2024

Asus has provided our first official look at its upcoming ROG Phone 8 gaming smartphone ahead of its expected launch at CES 2024. Asus posted a blind camera test on its website to promote the ROG Phone 8's photographic capabilities.

Participants can choose the best-looking photo from sample sets showing different camera modes. At the end of the test, Asus revealed a thank you note with an image showing the rear of two ROG Phone 8 devices side by side.

The render provides a clear view of the phone's design. Both models have a rectangular triple camera module in the top corner with an LED flash. An ROG logo is displayed on the rear panel with support for RGB lighting. The text "GLHF" is also inked in the bottom left, a message meaning "good luck, have fun."

Asus also confirmed the ROG Phone 8 will have a side-mounted USB-C port, allowing for convenient charging while gaming in landscape mode. Interestingly, the camera test highlighted the telephoto (x3) and (x10) categories, suggesting the ROG Phone 8 may finally offer a telephoto lens.

Winners of the blind test can win an ROG Phone 8. Powering the ROG Phone 8 is expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC with up to 24GB RAM, Android 14, and 65W fast charging support. We'll know more in the lead-up to the launch.
