Ather has launched its brand new flagship 450 electric scooter christened the 450 Apex. The Apex goes on sale at a steep Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru) and will be available for deliveries come March. It doesn’t get any FAME-II subsidies and hence, it comes at a premium. Plus, Ather will also provide the 750W charger, a special hand-painted ISI helmet and TPMS as standard on the Apex.

What’s New With The 450 Apex?

The Ather 450 Apex is powered by the same 3.7kWh battery pack that also does duties in the 450X. However, the 450 Apex gets a new powerful 7 kW electric motor. Interestingly, peak torque output from the e-motor remains the same at 26 Nm as it is on the 450X.

Ather

Ather has also introduced a new Warp+ ride mode that will be available exclusively with the Ather 450 Apex. It will also be available with an exclusive Indium blue and hot orange colour option. More so, Ather has once again reintroduced transparent body panels (more transparency than the Series 1 450s) that show off the stylish orange trellis frame.

Range And Performance

With a bigger electric motor, the new Ather 450 Apex claims to accelerate from 0-40kmph in just 2.9 seconds making it the quickest Ather electric scooter till now. More importantly, it is now claimed to reach a top speed of 100 kmph. It also boasts of a longer certified range of 157km, with a true range of 110km in both Smart Eco and Eco modes. In the new Warp+ mode, it can do 75 km of True range.

Charging Time

The new Ather 450 Apex is available with the larger 3.7kWh battery pack option as the 450X HR and hence, the charging time doesn’t see much changes as such. So, it still takes 4 hours and 30 mins to charge from 0-80%, and 5 hours and 45 mins to charge their batteries from 0-100% using the standard home charger, which is bundled in with the price of the e-scooter.

Magic Twist

Ather has introduced a new feature called Magic Twist that basically reduces your need to opt for the brakes in bumper to bumper traffic. By reverse twisting the throttle, you will generate quite a bit of regenerative braking, good enough to slow down the scooter effectively from speeds up to 60 kmph.

Ather

Warranty

Ather is offering the 450 Apex with a battery warranty of 5 years/60,000km, a step-up from the 3 years/30,000 km warranted on the 450X.

Conclusion

The Ather 450 Apex is the marquee’s new flagship model, which is dedicated to up the performance ante of the electric scooters, which was already impressive so far. To read more on how this scooter actually is to ride, check out our first ride impressions.
