Ather 450S Electric Scooter Launched In India, Deliveries To Start Soon

Ather Energy is making its electric scooter more affordable in India with the introduction of an entry-level variant, the Ather 450S, launched at Rs. 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new base version of the highly popular Ather 450 electric scooter is aimed at rivaling the Ola S1 Air, which retails at a much lower sticker price of Rs. 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Ather 450S is available for pre-bookings from July onward, with deliveries to commence soon. For reference, the Ather 450X is now priced between Rs. 1.45 and 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Tarun Mehta, Co-Founder & CEO, Ather Energy, said, “The 450S will be our new entry-level variant for those looking to enter the electric segment but are seeking the quality and assurance that Ather scooters provide.”

As the Ather 450S is a base version, the specs for this electric scooter also vary as compared to its flagship sibling. So, the Ather 450S features a much smaller 3 kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed range of 115 km and a top speed of 90 kmph.

Additionally, the company has also slashed prices of its Ather 450X, courtesy of the FAME II subsidy revision. The FAME II subsidy, one of the important levers that accelerated EV adoption in India, is revised to Rs. 10,000 per kWh with a maximum cap of 15 per cent of the ex-factory price.
