Compared to other entry-level base variants in the segment, the Ather 450S is now the most affordable option.
After the recent debut of the Ather 450 Apex, Ather Energy has now reintroduced its base-spec Ather 450S at a much more affordable price point at ₹97,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
There is no difference between the existing 450S and the older scooter. The specs, features and styling remains the same. Ather has opted for this aggressive pricing to make product more relevant in tier 2 and tier 3 markets as the consumers are more price conscious. So this price correction can be seen more as a marketing exercise by Ather to ensure that there’s faster adoption of its products in these upcoming markets.
The Ather 450S continues to be powered by the 2.9 kWh battery pack paired to a 5.4kW electric motor that produces 22 Nm of peak torque at the wheel. With this set-up, the Ather 450S is good for 115 km of range (as per IDC) and it can accelerate from 0-40 kmph in just 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 90 kmph.
Some of the standout features available with the Ather 450S include the 7-inch Deepview Display with an industry-first auto-brightness adjustability feature, FallSafe, Emergency Stop Signal, and Coasting Regen. The last feature helps increase the range of the scooter by 7 per cent. Ather also provides a Pro Pack separately, which if availed will get you Ride Assist, Battery Protect, AtherStack updates, and Ather Connect (for 3 years).
Aside from this announcement, Ather Energy today also confirmed that it is are adding 100 more retail touchpoints. And by the end of this quarter, the brand will have up to 350 touchpoints across the country. “Ather is embarking on an aggressive growth journey to tap into the growing demand for electric scooters,” reasoned Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy.
With this new price tag, the Ather 450S is now one of the most affordable e-scooters in its segment. In Bengaluru, the Ather 450S is priced at ₹1.10 lakh, whereas its closest rival, the Bajaj Chetak Urbane variant is priced at ₹1.15 lakh, and the entry-level TVS iQube costs ₹1.23 lakh, and the Ola S1 Air is priced at ₹1.20 Lakh (all ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
