This new platform will spawn Ather's next generation of electric scooters that are expected to be cost-efficient.
Ather has confirmed that it will debut its new EL platform, which will underpin the brand's next generation of electric scooters, at the brand’s upcoming Community Day event in August. This new range of electric scooters is pivotal to Ather’s IPO plans, so a lot will be riding on the shoulders of these new products. Alongside the new EL platform, Ather Energy will also showcase a few concept vehicles, which we reckon might be these potential upcoming scooters or even an electric motorcycle, if we're lucky.
The upcoming range of EL-platform-based electric scooters will mark a significant shift in the brand’s product strategy, wherein it will prioritise being cost-effective. So, unlike the current range of performance-focused offerings, these scooters might feature a smaller battery pack with longer charging times. Consequently, the top speed will also be conservative here, all of which will help Ather position these scooters as an affordable option. We got to chat with Ather’s Co-Founder and CEO, Tarun Mehta, about the brand's intentions with these new scooters. To learn more about that, check out our Editor-in-Chief, Siddharth Vinayak Pattankar's exclusive interview below:
Alongside showcasing new scooters, Ather Energy will also launch its next-generation of fast chargers, and upgraded software stack Ather Stack 7.0. Both will be showcased as part of this year’s event theme, “Technology that works like Magic”. So, stay tuned to this space, for more details about Ather Community Day 2025 will be shared here soon.
