Always check for software updates, else you might have an unresponsive device
With electric mobility solutions gaining more prominence in life, it is bound to happen that we might have to face some unique new hiccups during the ownership period. For instance, we came across a tweet where an Ather owner became late for office. And the reasoning that his bosses got might just be the most Gen-Z problem of them all: his e-scooter was updating.
Yep, his Ather 450X might have received an OTA drop, as Ather regularly does. In order for the system to process the update, the e-scooter needs the user to turn on the ignition key and the software will automatically begin. And unlike on your smartphone or laptop where you can manually allow the device to undergo the update while you are sleeping, the software updating process on e-scooters needs the owner to activate it. This is one neat failsafe built into the operating software and thus, facing this slight hindrance shouldn’t be that much of a bother.
It must be said, though, that in our previous experience with the Ather 450X and its OTA updates, the time duration taken is not more than 15-20 minutes of being stationary. It is best that the e-scooter has a full charge for the processes to run smoothly and rapidly. And when Ather does drop such updates, it usually also notifies the user via the dedicated Ather app. Hence, you are notified that there might be such delays anticipated.
All in all, we would not encourage people to use this hilarious reasoning for coming late to work. Cause your boss might not take it so nicely always, and appraisal season is nearly here.
