Ather Energy organised the ByteBattles Firmware Development Hackathon in collaboration with Infineon and Elektrobit.
Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Ather Energy has successfully wrapped up its first coding competition – ByteBattles Firmware Development Hackathon. Organised in collaboration with Infineon and Elektrobit, the competition required participants to program vehicle features that could be later implemented in Ather scooters, using Ather’s Application Software Development Kit (ASDK).
This allowed Ather to showcase what it calls the transformative potential of its middleware, i.e. ASDK, along with its user-friendly nature and adaptability. Developed completely in-house by Ather, the ASDK was created to encourage application software developers, and Ather is also planning to open-source it.
“Platforms such as ASDK are designed to accelerate software development and propel advancements in electric mobility. Just as Android abstracted software from hardware, ASDK democratises firmware development for electric vehicles, significantly reducing development time while maintaining quality,” said Swapnil Jain, Co-founder & CTO of Ather Energy. “With Byte Battles we wanted to eliminate obstacles to creativity and cultivate a community of developers committed to crafting outstanding user experiences," he further added.
A total of 65 participants from esteemed institutions including IIT Madras, SRM, MKSSS, Cummins College, and industry giants like Royal Enfield, Continental Automotive Components India Pvt. Ltd., Chara Technologies, The Energy Company, and Nunam Technologies participated in the hackathon.
