Slater, a proven champion in karting and junior formulas, will race in the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Championship with Trident Motorsport.

Audi Revolut F1 Team has announced rising British motorsport talent Freddie Slater as the first official member of the Audi Driver Development Programme. This comes just a few days after Audi Revolut formally announced its entry into the FIA Formula One World Championship.

Highly regarded as one of the most promising young drivers of his generation, Slater will compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2026 with Trident Motorsport. His campaign will be supported and guided by the Audi Driver Development Programme, which is designed to identify, nurture and prepare elite young talent for the highest levels of single-seater racing.

Freddie Slater Career

Slater’s junior career to date has been marked by consistent success across multiple disciplines. He rose to prominence in karting with dominant performances that earned him both the CIK-FIA Karting World Championship and European Championship titles. His transition to single-seater racing proved equally seamless, as he went on to secure championship victories in the UAE Formula 4 and Italian Formula 4 series.

More recently, Slater impressed in the highly competitive Formula Regional European Championship, where he claimed multiple race wins and was named Rookie of the Year before securing the overall championship title. His performances highlighted not only outright pace, but also race craft and composure beyond his years — qualities that align closely with Audi’s long-term motorsport ambitions.

The Audi Driver Development Programme is led by former Le Mans winner and Audi motorsport icon Allan McNish. Slater’s signing represents the first tangible step of the initiative, reinforcing Audi’s commitment to investing in young drivers as it builds its future works Formula One team.

On being given this opportunity, Slater said, “It’s an incredible honour to be the first driver selected for the Audi Driver Development Programme. Audi is a brand with a legendary motorsport history, and to have their trust and support at this crucial stage of my career is a dream come true. Joining forces with a respected team like Trident Motorsport for Formula 3 and having the backing of Audi Revolut F1 Team is a massive opportunity.”
