Legacy manufacturers will bring in some major heat at this year’s auto show.
India’s most popular for all things new cars and bikes — the Bharat Mobility Global Expo – is here. What is also known as the Auto Expo, will have some of the biggest names in the automotive industry showcasing its latest products on the show floors of Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. Besides the plethora of new products that will be showcased from January 17-22, our focus in this article will be the slew of new electric scooters that will be displayed to the public for the first time over these four days:
Honda’s debut electric scooters for the Indian market – the Activa e: and QC1 – will be the biggest showstoppers this year. The probability that Honda might also reveal their pricing at the auto show will make matters more exciting. We managed to get up and close with both the Honda electric scooters last year during its debut, and you can learn more from the video below.
But some facts that you should know about the Activa e and the QC1 are that the former is a more premium affair with more range and better features on offer. The latter is comparatively simpler, which will be ideal for short city runabouts. To learn more about these two new electric scooters, head to the link here.
Ola might have sold the least number of electric scooters in December 2024, which mainly boils down to the numerous controversies the brand was riddled with throughout 2024. But that didn’t mingle with the Bengaluru-based EV company’s expansion plans. Making its products more accessible are the new S1Z and Gig electric scooters, which are also the brand’s most affordable offering yet. On top of that, these are also the first electric scooters from Ola that support swappable battery technology. Being the most affordable of the lot, Ola has had to skimp on many features, but that doesn’t take away its attractive propositions, which both bring to the table for its price point. Head to the link here to learn more about them and their price.
Bajaj closed 2024 on a high note by launching the spruced-up Chetak 35 series with several improvements. For starters, despite the more or less same body design, the new Chetak 35 series is built around a completely new chassis. This new frame accommodates the battery inside the floorboard. As a result, the boot space opens up to a massive 35 litres. Additionally, the 3.5 kWh battery pack has been updated, which is now denser than before, which has helped increase its range to 153 km on a single charge. Lastly, Bajaj debuted a new 5-inch TFT cluster with the new Chetaks with integrated maps from Mappls. To know how this new cluster functions and how improved the Chetaks are before check out the video below:
We have always loved the Ather 450 scooters for their performance and the hassle-free ride experience they deliver. For 2025, Ather has made both the 450S and 450X safer, and along with that, it has also made a few nifty updates that have helped its case with more range. While the electric scooters might carry forward the same body design, there are two new colour options now – Desert Sand and Stealth Blue. To know more about the changes in depth, check out the first ride review below:
