Honda’s export business also grew by a whopping 122.63 per cent last month.
Honda has finally managed to surpass its erstwhile partner Hero MotoCorp by selling 4,80,896 bikes and scooters in April 2025. This marks a healthy 19.8 per cent month-on-month growth in business for the Japanese bikemaker against the 4,27,448 units it retailed cumulatively in March 2025. When compared to the cumulative sales of April 2024, Honda sold 22.01 per cent more two-wheelers last month this year as against the 3,94,147 units it retailed in April, 2024.
Out of the above cumulative total, Honda’s domestic sales have increased by 5.36 per cent on a month-on-month basis with 4,22,931 units retailed as against the 4,01,411 units it did in March 2025. Similarly, exports have also increased from 26,037 units in March 2025 to 57,965 units in April 2025 – which is a massive 122.63 per cent month-on-month growth in exports.
Honda’s latest sales domination puts it way ahead of Hero MotoCorp wherein the latter had retailed just 3,05,406 bikes and scooters last month. Hero states that four of its manufacturing plants were closed for three days thereby affecting production and eventually retail. But Honda’s steady growth is not a fluke. The brand closed FY 25 by trailing Hero MotoCorp with just 68,000 units. The bigger problem for Hero MotoCorp is that Honda is not only closing the sales gap, but also increasing market share especially in the commuter bike segment which was Hero’s forte.
