Auto Sales December 2023: Hero December Sales Flat Despite A 5% Growth

Hero MotoCorp revealed its 2023 calendar year sales figures. The company achieved a 5 percent year-on-year growth, selling 54.99 lakh units compared to 52.47 lakh units in CY2022. Despite a sluggish two-wheeler market, the manufacturer maintained a positive growth trajectory. However, December 2023 saw stagnant sales at 3,93,952 units, slightly below the 3,94,179 two-wheelers dispatched in December 2022.

In December, Hero's motorcycle sales remained stable, selling 3,54,658 units, slightly fewer than the 356,349 units sold the previous year. On the positive side, scooter sales improved, reaching 39,294 units in December 2023, a 5 percent increase from the 37,430 units sold in December 2022. In comparison to last month's 354,658 units, Hero sold 393,952 units this month, which equates to just 39,294 units more.

Hero reported that its domestic sales reached 377,842 units, slightly down from the 381,365 units sold in 2022. On the bright side, exports experienced a 25 per cent growth, reaching 16,110 units compared to 12,814 units in December 2022.

In 2023, Hero MotoCorp had a busy year launching new products. It introduced the Karizma XMR, Xoom 110, and the Harley-Davidson X 440, which was the first product from its collaboration with the American manufacturer. At EICMA 2023, Hero showcased models like the Xoom 125R, Xoom 160, and the 2.5R Xtunt concept, giving a sneak peek of a new 250 cc naked motorcycle.

Looking ahead, Hero plans to unveil a flagship model based on the Harley X440 on January 22. Additionally, it is also preparing to be the only Indian team at the Dakar 2024 rally that’s starting on January 6.
