Mahindra & Mahindra concluded 2024 with robust growth, capitalising on the growing demand for utility vehicles. The company reported total wholesales of 528,460 units in calendar year 2024, marking its best-ever performance and a milestone achievement by surpassing the half-a-million-unit mark for the first time. This reflects an increase of 95,288 units compared to the previous year.
Mahindra consistently maintained double-digit growth throughout 2024, driven by strong consumer demand and an expanded product lineup. September marked a pivotal moment when the company crossed the 50,000-unit sales mark for the first time, achieving 54,504 units in October, its best-ever monthly performance. Although November and December saw lower figures—46,222 and 41,424 units, respectively—they still represented healthy year-on-year growth of 16 per cent and 18 per cent.
With a lineup of 10 SUVs, including popular models like the Bolero, Scorpio, Thar, and XUV700, Mahindra is well-positioned in India’s competitive utility vehicle market. The Scorpio range (Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic) emerged as the company’s top seller, with 154,169 units dispatched between January and November, accounting for 32 per cent of total sales. The Bolero secured the second spot with 93,850 units, followed by the XUV700 (83,390 units) and the facelifted XUV 3XO (78,826 units). The Thar-Thar Roxx lineup recorded 69,354 units, bolstered by the launch of the five-door Thar Roxx in August.
Mahindra’s all-electric XUV400 contributed 7,188 units to the company’s 2024 tally, with the recently launched BE 6 and XEV 9E expected to drive EV sales further in 2025. These models have received strong initial interest and will hit showrooms in early 2025.
Safety has been a key pillar of Mahindra’s strategy. In November 2024, the Thar Roxx, XUV3XO, and XUV400 earned five-star safety ratings from Bharat-NCAP, joining the XUV700 and Scorpio N in Mahindra’s portfolio of top-rated vehicles. These ratings underscore the company’s commitment to offering secure and reliable vehicles.
In the first nine months of FY2025, Mahindra sold 402,360 units, achieving 87 per cent of its FY2024 total of 459,877 units. With three months remaining, the company is poised to exceed its fiscal record and surpass the 500,000-unit mark. To meet surging demand, Mahindra has significantly increased production capacity, targeting 64,000 units per month (768,000 units annually) by the end of FY2025 and 72,000 units per month (864,000 units annually) by 2026.
