Domestic passenger vehicle sales soared to 1,30,117 units, marking a 24.18 per cent increase from 1,04,778 units in the same period last year.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited concluded the year 2024 with outstanding growth in domestic, export, and overall sales, cementing its dominance in the Indian car market. In December 2024, Maruti achieved a total sales figure of 1,78,248 units, representing a robust 29.59 per cent growth compared to 1,37,551 units sold in December 2023. The domestic passenger vehicle sales soared to 1,30,117 units, marking a 24.18 per cent increase from 1,04,778 units in the same period last year.
Exports played a significant role in Maruti Suzuki's success, with 37,419 units shipped in December 2024, a substantial 39.19 per cent growth over the 26,884 units exported in December 2023. The light commercial vehicle category, led by the Super Carry, also saw exceptional growth. LCV sales climbed 40.37 per cent, reaching 2,406 units compared to 1,714 units in the previous year.
Breaking down the numbers further, mini and compact cars such as the Alto, S-Presso, Baleno, Swift, and Dzire sold 62,324 units, up from 48,298 units in December 2023. Utility vehicles, including popular models like the Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, and Jimny, registered sales of 55,651 units, compared to 45,957 units the previous year. Meanwhile, sales of the Eeco van rose to 11,678 units, improving from 10,034 units in December 2023.
The company continued its stellar performance throughout the fourth quarter of 2024, with total sales of 5,66,213 units, a 12.97 per cent growth compared to 5,01,207 units in Q4 2023. Domestic sales during the quarter reached 4,31,020 units, reflecting a 5.91 per cent increase from 4,06,983 units in Q4 2023.
Exports grew even more significantly, with 99,220 units shipped, a 38.22 per cent increase from the 71,785 units recorded in the same quarter last year. Another notable highlight was sales to Toyota, which surged by an impressive 89.23 per cent, reaching 27,102 units compared to 14,322 units in Q4 2023. LCV sales also witnessed a positive trend, growing 9.29 per cent to 8,871 units from 8,117 units in the corresponding period of 2023.
Maruti Suzuki’s strong export performance in December and Q4 2024 underscores its growing global presence. With 37,419 units exported in December 2024 and 99,220 units in Q4 2024, the company achieved year-on-year growth of 39.19 per cent and 38.22 per cent, respectively.
