Suzuki’s domestic volume grew by 59 percent, but exports remain low.

Suzuki India achieved yet another remarkable sales growth in February 2024. The brand cumulatively retailed 97,436 units last month which is a staggering 38 percent increase in overall sales (both imports and export), compared to 70,621 units sold last year, in the same month.

Most of the sales came from the domestic market. Suzuki sold 83,304 units in February, which is a massive 59 percent growth in domestic volumes. However, SMIL’s export figures continue to remain low, and the marque exported only 14,131 units in February 2024, compared to 18,170 units in February 2023.

Speaking about its sales performance, Devashish Handa, Executive Vice President, Suzuki Motorcycle India said, “ In February 2024, SMIPL accomplished production of one million units, thus achieving full utilisation of the plant’s annual production capacity in less than a year. Furthermore, it continues its strong growth curve for the eleventh consecutive month.”

The brand is also working on strengthening its position in the premium motorcycle segment. Recently, it showcased the V-Strom 800DE and the GSX-8R, alongside the flex-fuel-ready Gixxer 250 SF, at the Bharat Mobility Expo last month. Although no information has yet been revealed about the launch dates of these two middleweight motorcycles, they are expected to be launched at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo later this year.
