Strong domestic demand drives TVS Motor’s growth.
TVS Motor Company entered the new year with a strong sales performance, recording a 23% increase in total vehicle sales in January 2024 compared to the same month last year. This positive momentum was driven by strong growth in both the domestic and international markets, highlighting the company's continued success in the two-wheeler segment.
The two-wheeler segment emerged as the star performer, registering a 25% growth in January 2024. Domestic sales witnessed an equally strong surge of 24%, indicating a healthy demand within the Indian market. This growth was fueled by both motorcycles and scooters, with motorcycles recording a 29% increase and scooters witnessing a 24% jump in sales compared to January 2023.
TVS Motor's commitment to electric mobility continues to gain traction, with EV sales witnessing a significant 34% growth in January 2024. This positive trend underscores the growing popularity of electric vehicles in India and TVS Motor's strategic focus on this segment.
TVS Motor's international business also displayed positive growth, with total exports increasing by 22%. Two-wheeler exports witnessed an even steeper climb of 28%, showcasing the company's expanding global footprint. However, dispatches were partially impacted by container availability constraints.
The three-wheeler segment witnessed a modest decline in sales compared to January 2023. While the reasons for this dip are not explicitly stated, it could be due to various factors such as market fluctuations or competition within the segment. We could perhaps witness the numbers back to being healthy in the coming few months.
