Mahindra Auto reported 83,691 units in total auto sales in July 2025, a healthy 26% growth over July 2024. The SUV maker sold 49,871 units in the domestic market during the month, a 20 per cent YoY growth. The company credited the strong performance to sustained demand for nameplates like the Scorpio-N, Thar, and XUV700.

The launch of the new XUV 3XO 'REVX' series recently also added to the momentum, and the start of deliveries for Pack 2 variants of BE 6 and XEV 9e, Mahindra's new electric SUV entrants, also generated interest. In the first four months of FY26, Mahindra has delivered 2,01,938 SUVs, rising by a 22 per cent growth over last year's corresponding period.

In commercial vehicles, Mahindra sold 21,571 units during July 2025. Growth remained uneven in sub-segments. While the LCV 2T–3.5T segment recorded 12 per cent growth, driven mainly by the Bolero Pick-Up range, and the LCV >3.5T and MHCV segment recorded 20 per cent growth, the LCV <2T segment recorded a 9 per cent decline.

Three-Wheelers Post Explosive Growth

The three-wheeler segment was the July 2025 leader with a staggering 164 per cent growth in sales. Mahindra sold 9,475 units compared to 3,593 units in the same month last year. The segment's YTD growth is 41 per cent with 30,034 units sold in the current FY26.

This expansion reflects on improved uptake of electric three-wheelers for last-mile connectivity underpinned by government initiatives, increasing urban infrastructure, and Mahindra's increasing lineup of electric passenger carriers and cargo carriers.

Export Performance

Mahindra's export volumes also rose sharply, with 2,774 units exported in July 2025, up by 83 per cent from July 2024's 1,515 units. YTD exports grew by 44 per cent, indicative of improving global demand for Mahindra's compact SUVs and commercial vehicles, especially in geographies like South Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

What Worked for Mahindra

Several factors contributed to Mahindra's robust July performance. Ongoing robust demand for SUVs in both urban and rural markets provided a guaranteed volume foundation. Timely launches of new variants such as the XUV 3XO and strategic launch of Pack 2 BE and XEV models drove customer interest and showroom pull-through.

In the electric mobility space, Mahindra appears to be settling into its stride, especially in the three-wheeler space. Also, solid export growth reflects improved supply chain functioning and increased overseas brand recall.

Weak Spots and Challenges

The <2T commercial vehicle space is where Mahindra has lost volumes. A 9 per cent fall in this space reflects either a change in consumer preference or increasing competitive heat from newer entrants. Second, Mahindra is still absent from the sedan and hatchback segments, a conscious call taken by the brand. Competitors having a wider range of Passenger Vehicles have a bigger canvas to play in.

What's Next for Mahindra

This month, there will be some significant product unveils from Mahindra, such as the four electric concepts to be revealed on August 15. These will be mostly EVs in different body styles, such as the Thar electric and the new generation Bolero on a completely new platform.

These products are expected to cater to mainstream ICE buyers as well as the new EV buyers emerging in the market. The company is also attempting to accelerate the production of EVs and maximise the utilisation of its manufacturing plants, especially to tap the emerging EV market opportunities.
