The shift in sales trend means TVS needs to work on the Ntorq upgrade.

The TVS iQube has outsold the TVS Ntorq 125 for the second consecutive month in FY26. In May 2025, TVS sold 27,642 iQubes, which was 9.22% more compared to 25,205 units of the Ntorq 125. Earlier in April 2025, TVS sold 27,604 electric scooters, compared to 25,383 units of the 125 cc sporty scooter. Thus marking a clear demographic shift in preference in the brand’s offering.

The iQube range was recently updated.

The TVS iQube has been outselling the Ntorq 125 constantly for the past six months, starting in December 2024. Simultaneously, sales of the Ntorq 125 have been dipping, too, ending December 2024 with a 21% Year-on-Year (Yo-Y) sales drop. Meanwhile, the iQube’s sales grew by 78% in the same month. A similar trend continued in April and May, wherein the iQube registered 65% and 60.43% y-o-y growth, respectively.

The iQube has been consistently outselling the Ntorq 125 for the past six months.

Why This Change?

The iQube was launched in multiple variants last year, ushering in all three trim levels – base, S, and ST. Except for the mid-spec S trim, which is limited to just one battery option, both the base and ST trims get the benefit of two battery pack options. TVS also introduced two battery packs recently  – 3.5 kWh and 5.3 kWh. The former replaced a 3.3 kWh and the latter a 5.5 kWh option from before in the S and ST trims, respectively. The iQube might not have the same sporty visual appeal as the Ntorq, but the electric scooter does offer good performance, especially in the ST variant. So, even consumers who were looking for performance and normally would have opted for the Ntorq might be shifting to the iQube as it offers good acceleration, while the running cost is low. Another aspect working in favour of the iQube is the increase in demand for family electric scooters as we have seen with its rivals like the Ather Rizta and Bajaj Chetak.

The TVS Ntorq 125 has quite the funky colour options on offer.

The Ntorq 125, on the other hand, has undergone very few changes over the past few years. Besides a few aesthetic upgrades (read colour options), there have been no mechanical changes whatsoever. Given that it has been on sale since 2018, the Ntorq needed an update, and perhaps TVS is working towards that, which is the reason why the brand might be taking it easy here. Reports claim that the Hosur-based bike marque is working on a new 150 cc motor for a scooter that will purportedly carry forward the ‘Ntorq’ badge. While the viability of a 150 cc sporty scooter has not been a topic for the masses, it still has its niche yet significant following.

So, while the TVS Ntorq 125’s 20,000+ monthly sales figures might not sound much. After all, it crossed the 1.88 million sales milestone earlier this year as well, so the Ntorq 125 is successful enough to march further and live to tell a bigger tale in the coming months. But it’s also a wake-up call for TVS to give the 125 cc scooter a proper overhaul with respect to styling, performance and features. Despite the drop in sales, the Ntorq 125 remains the most popular performance 125 cc scooter on sale in India.
