Domestic sales for Royal Enfield bikes decline while exports surge.
Royal Enfield announced its sales performance for November, 2024 and it hasn’t been a very positive month for the Indian brand. The company sold 82,257 units last month which is a mere 2 per cent increase in comparison to its November, 2023 sales performance. This comes at the backdrop of exports growing by a massive 96 per cent as it managed to export 10,021 units last month. If it wasn’t for the stellar exports numbers, domestic sales for Royal Enfield actually fell by 4 per cent.
Speaking about the performance for the month of November 2024, B Govindarajan, CEO, Royal Enfield said, “November has been an incredible month for us at Royal Enfield, filled with exciting launches that truly reflect our passion for pure motorcycling. At EICMA 2024, we took a historic step into the world of EVs with the debut of the Flying Flea, a big leap toward sustainable, forward-thinking mobility. We also introduced two stunning motorcycles, the Classic 650 and the Bear 650 that continue to build on our legacy of creating timeless, purposeful machines. Not only that, at Motoverse 2024, we launched the Goan Classic 350 and Scram 440 and both these motorcycles have garnered great response from motorcycling enthusiasts across the country.”
Despite the drop in sales, the brand is upbeat as it introduced a range of new bikes recently which includes the Royal Enfield Bear 650 and its first bobber offering in the 350 cc space, the Goan Classic 350. The company also unveiled the new Scram 440 at Motoverse last month which will go on sale in January, 2025. Royal Enfield will need a strong performance from its bread and butter offerings, the Classic 350 and the Hunter 350 to drive sales as demand for its 650 cc bikes have been stagnant. While Himalayan 450 sales have been good, the Guerrilla 450 sales performance hasn’t been up to the mark.
