India’s electric two-wheeler market grew 2.61% YoY in October 2025, with Hero MotoCorp, Ather, and startups showing strong gains, while Ola Electric saw a significant decline.
The Indian electric two-wheeler market recorded a total retail of 1,43,887 units in October 2025, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). This marks a modest year-on-year (YoY) growth of 2.61% compared to October 2024, when 1,40,225 units were sold.
However, the market share for electric two-wheelers dropped to 4.6% in October 2025, down from 6.8% in October 2024 and 8.1% in September 2025, indicating a challenging environment despite the positive YoY numbers.
Hero MotoCorp emerged as the fastest-growing major player, posting a remarkable YoY growth of 116.89%. The company retailed 15,952 units in October 2025, up from 7,355 units in the same month last year. Greaves Electric Mobility also posted a strong performance, with a 91.20% YoY increase, selling 7,629 units compared to 3,990 units in October 2024.
Among startups, PUR Energy and River Mobility stood out with exceptional YoY growth rates of 409.25% and 333.51% respectively. PUR Energy’s sales jumped from 335 units in October 2024 to 1,706 units in October 2025, while River Mobility increased from 370 to 1,604 units in the same period.
Ather Energy also demonstrated robust growth, with a 72.95% YoY increase, retailing 28,101 units in October 2025 compared to 16,248 units a year ago. BGauss Auto Private Limited saw a 44.93% rise, selling 2,932 units.
Bajaj Auto, one of the largest players, reported a YoY growth of 9.86%, retailing 31,246 units in October 2025. However, TVS Motor Company saw a slight YoY decline of 2.40%, with sales dropping from 30,240 units in October 2024 to 29,515 units in October 2025.
Ola Electric, once the market leader, experienced a significant YoY decline of 61.68%, with sales falling from 41,843 units in October 2024 to 16,036 units in October 2025. The “Others” category, which includes smaller brands, also saw a marginal decline of 2.27%.
On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, the market saw a strong recovery, with total sales rising by 38.06% from September 2025. Greaves Electric Mobility led the MoM surge with a 78.62% increase, followed by Ather Energy (54.90%) and Bajaj Auto (59.58%).
While the electric two-wheeler market in India showed only modest YoY growth in October 2025, several brands, especially new entrants and Hero MotoCorp, posted impressive gains. However, the overall market share decline and Ola Electric’s sharp drop highlight ongoing challenges in the sector.
