One of them could be apt for an adventure tourer motorcycle
The latest list of Bajaj Auto trademarked names that the company has applied for have surfaced online. ‘Trekker,’ ‘Glider,’ ‘Marathon,’ and ‘Freedom’ might make their way onto Bajaj products in the future, as new vehicles or maybe features.
For starters, the one that seems quite obvious for an adventure motorcycle is the Trekker. Bajaj has a lovely 250 cc motor in its arsenal that can be utilised for making something to rival the likes of the Suzuki V-Strom SX. Maybe it could be used as a suffix, a Pulsar Trekker 250, could use the same foundations and heart from the Pulsar N250 but with revised suspension and wheel assemblies so as to make it competent for a variety of riding scenarios.
Marathon could be used for one of Bajaj’s upcoming commercial vehicles as it would serve the purpose of an all-day runner quite well. This could be something to rival the likes of the Piaggio Ape three-wheeler that one usually finds vegetable grocers use for local pop-up market duties.
We aren’t quite as convinced as to what the Glider and Freedom could turn out for the brand. With the Avenger already in the picture, having another cruiser identity doesn’t really make sense. Perhaps, it could turn out to be a feature addition on the cruiser motorcycle or on all Bajaj bikes, like the Tripper pod turned out to be on Royal Enfield bikes.
And if we had to make a guess, the Glider could be apt for an e-bike that maybe Bajaj and Yulu Bikes might be working on together. India’s e-bike option list is booming, so it wouldn’t be surprising if we saw something on the same lines.
Having said that, all of these names have been applied for quite recently. Hence, expecting any immediate product to have these four names is a futile matter. We can hope that a year or so from now, we would see at least one of these called into action.
