This new variant replaces the Chetak 2903 variant from before.
Bajaj Auto has refreshed the Chetak 2903 variant to bring us the new Chetak 3001. Priced at ₹99,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the low-cost Chetak is now ₹3,992 dearer than the outgoing 2903. Considering the updates that you get, the premium is well justified, and the e-scooter still remains priced below the ₹1 lakh mark.
The new Chetak 3001 is powered by a slightly bigger 3.0 kWh battery, unlike the 2.9 kWh battery pack available before. As a result, the Chetak 3001's range has increased by 4 km and is now rated at 127 km IDC. Bajaj is also offering a 750W charger as standard, which can charge 0-80 per cent of the battery in 3 hours and 50 minutes.
It also incorporates the changes Bajaj made to the Chetak 35 series, with improved frame stiffness and better riding dynamics. The overall design of the new Chetak 3001 is the same as the rest of the range. It boasts one of the largest under-seat storage spaces, 35 litres.

The Chetak 3001 will also be available with the Tec Pac accessories package as an option. The feature pack will unlock call accept/reject, music control, guide me home lights, hill-hold assist, reverse light, and auto flashing stop lamp (much like emergency brake lights).
Interestingly, the newly launched Chetak 3001 is quite a neatly priced option, especially when compared against its immediate rivals – the TVS iQube and Ola S1 X. The base version of the iQube is powered by a 2.2 kWh battery pack and costs ₹94,434 (ex-showroom, Delhi) while the larger 3.5 kWh S variant demands a price tag of ₹1.09 lakh. On the other hand, the Ola S1 X too packs in a similar battery pack as the Chetak 3001 and is a few thousand rupees more affordable. Reliability, though, remains a big issue for Ola.
Therefore, Bajaj has managed to hit the middle ground here perfectly, where one is not required to shell out much to buy a nice, reliable urban vehicle. You get all the necessary elements for a stress-free commuter, plus the assurance of a widespread service network.
