Timely innovations and network expansions helped the Chetak brand become the third-largest seller in its segment.
By naming its new, range of electric scooters, Chetak, Bajaj not just brought back nostalgia but also ushered the brand to a different age and time when it debuted in 2020. After three years, the Chetak brand has gone big, with sales volume registering 3 times year-on-year growth in FY24, and becoming the third largest electric scooter brand in the segment, after Ola and TVS.
Moreover, in the fourth quarter of FY24, the Bajaj Chetak registered its highest quarterly volume since 2020. Bajaj accredits a range of actions on the portfolio (new variants introduced) and network expansion, (currently, Bajaj Chetak is sold across 164 cities) for the growth.

Earlier this year, Bajaj rejigged the Chetak line-up to introduce the 2024 Chetak Urbane and Premium variants. Both are available with the benefit of Bajaj’s TECPAC package which further adds convenience features like turn-by-turn navigation, play/pause music, receive call alerts, etc. The scooters also received cosmetic updates in the form of new colour options. Along with that, the marque also updated the scooters with a bigger battery, and slightly more powerful motor, and coupled it with a faster charger as well.
Currently, the ex-showroom price (Delhi) of the Bajaj Chetak starts from ₹1,23,319 with the Urbane variant, and the Premium variant starts from ₹1,47,243, both prices without the TECPAC package. Bajaj is also working on a new affordable Chetak variant, slated to launch in May 2024. This upcoming model is expected to be priced around the ₹1 lakh mark and thereby will compete against the recently updated Ola S1X which starts from ₹70,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) onwards.
However, these prices will soon increase later this year, as the FAME-II subsidies have expired and have been replaced by the fund-limited Electric Mobility Scheme (EMPS) subsidy which again will be available till July.
